Let me Introduce Myself!
My name is Richard Day, I’m a British citizen happily wed to my beautiful Thai Wife Chanchira.
We were married on 7th January in a small village in North Thailand, and a week later repeated the marriage (officially) in Bangkok. My wife and I now live happily in the UK and some point in the future plan to return and settle in Thailand. I have many friends in Thailand, some are married some are not, But nearly all of them at some point have gone through the visa application process. You will notice I always refer to the males as having to go through the visa application process and not the wife’s or girlfriends, it’s because the male “or sponsor” is the one who really has do all the work, as well as cover all the expenses. When I made that first commitment to Chanchira, I knew sooner or later the UK visa issue would be a bridge I would have to cross, and to be honest at first, the thought terrified me! I had listened to so many horror stories surrounding the whole UK visa process for Thai nationals that I ended up dreading making the application.

Our Wedding Day (North Thailand)
To ease my fears I spent months researching success stories along with failures on the internet, purchased many self help packs talked to as many people as I could who had been through the process, including many of my wife’s friends and partners, and finally used what I deemed to be the most useful information from all sources for our application. On the day I submitted chanchira's UK visa application at Bangkok, I was confident I had produced with the knowledge gained over the months, a grade A application giving me the best chance possible - 2 days later Chanchira was in possession of a 6 month Visitor visa for the United Kingdom, and finally we could spend some time together in what would eventually become her new home. On our return to Thailand we married and immediately applied for a UK settlement visa. This time I was filled with confidence, I had pre-prepared all the paperwork back in England. My wife was to make the journey to Bangkok alone to submit it, as I, (due to my depleted holiday entitlement) had to fly back to the UK as soon as the wedding and honeymoon were over. Thousands of miles apart once again, we expected a wait of up to 3 months for an answer, but just 5 weeks later she was in possession of the Settlement visa and with no interview! I cannot put into words how pleased we were, after all, your life is basically on hold and filled with uncertainty while you wait for these visas. Last year I made the decision to pass on to others the knowledge I had gained surrounding the application process, along with lots of helpful hints and tips, descriptions, photographs, example letters etc etc, so I put pen to paper and produced a "Visa D.I.Y Help Pack" providing all the information along with easy to follow instructions allowing the reader produce a “Grade A” application, without using the very expensive Thai visa agencies, resulting in you saving enough money to purchase a flight for your partner! I am more than pleased with the finished result, and hope you will be too; the feedback I have received has been fantastic, I have even made a few new friends along the way.
Good Luck with your application, Richard & Chanchira Day
